The Shipwrecker by KmyeChan The Shipwrecker by KmyeChan

A tempest is just a mermaid's bad hair day.

I have been working on this piece on and off since summer. At one point I got so frustrated with it that I thought I would never get around to finish it. Hopefully it was all worth it...!
I am trying to achieve an aspect closer to oil painting (while still working in my usual marker/ink/pencil combination). I quite like it, time-consuming as it is. :)

Hope you like it!

PS: closer shots can be seen on my Tumblr, and you can see a part of the process here in time-lapse video:

Wow, so beautiful! I've always imagined the power of the sea as it's beauty. This made me think of the Tempest by Shakespeare, even before I looked at the description.

Thank you! I wasn't thinking of The Tempest when drawing this, but you are right, it is very fitting!

The time you spent was worth it, fantastic job!
This is one of those pics you need to look at large and view for a while to really appreciate the details.
Not just a quick look, there is so much to see.
Very intense, love it!
